“Nasha Gazeta” – Russian language newspaper in Ireland in association with “Sorussi” (Society of Russian speakers in Ireland ) , Know Racism and Irish Russian Enterprise centre has conduct a quality needs analysis of Russian speakers in Ireland.
    Where Russian speakers come to Ireland from?
    The former Soviet Union has consisted of fifteen republics with Russia itself as federation structure. After collapse of Soviet Union in 1991 and following age of financial crisis in Russia and most of 15 former Union's republics a lot of people in the circumstances we shown below are migrate between these countries and abroad. Some of them set themselves in Ireland. We mean Russian speakers as people who aloud to speak and understand in Russian tongue as their native language or as main language additionally to their mother tongue. As most of people who aloud to speak Russian became to Ireland from former USSR they are aloud to speak and understand in Russian as this language was in most of Educational programme.
    How many Russian speakers set in Ireland?
   It is difficult to calculate exact number of former Soviet Union's nationalities living in Ireland now. There is number of official source who can provide a figure of nationalities. Department of Enterprise trade and employment has issued 2424 work permits to Lithuanian, 2135- Latvians, 1432- Ukrainian, 567 – Russians and 507– Moldavian citizens. But the same time in Census 2002 2500 people living in Ireland indicate themselves as Russian.
   We are estimate bigger nations in Russian speaking community rating: Lithuanian, Ukrainian, Moldavian, Russian, BeloRussian, Georgian, Armenian, Azerbaijan , Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz, Estonian and other.
   Why people migrate?
    Main reason why people decide to leave their motherland is aspiration for improvement their family prosperity, improvement of living and educational condition for their children. As other reason people indicate number of factors:
-military operations an some regions in Russia and former Soviet Union;
-discrimination of non native population if some of former republics such us Baltic states against Russian, Ukranian, BeloRussian;
-oppositional politics point of view in Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Belorussia;
-crime situation in Russia.
    As separate reason some people were invited to Ireland as professionals in various area: software developers, IT specialists, scientists, workers and service area. Usually people decide to choice Ireland occasionally except some young couples who specially set themselves in Ireland to born baby.
    What are the most important community challenges?
    The research shown follow rating of problems was met by Russian speakers migrant arrived to Ireland. Most important issue indicated by respondents of survey is null information about Irish legislation, a specially immigration law, labour law, taxation and many other aspects. No one of participants of survey named any state or voluntary organisation who can help to migrants. As information source people named other compatriots who set themselves in Ireland before. But the same time Russian speakers who arrived to Ireland before are not willingly share the information their got because pay high cost for these information or getting these information with difficulties.
   The second problem in the rating of issues is language barrier. Most of immigrant do not speak English properly or ever speak English.
   Why Russian newspaper need?
    In 2001 when huge number of immigrants from former USSR came to Ireland the same requirements as named above are became to reality. Number of ex-pats businessmen and few former journalists decide to run Russian language newspaper to provide coverage on the following areas on a twice a month basis: Home News, Features, Immigrants' issues and law, History of Russian-Irish immigration, past and present issues relating to the Russian Orthodox Church, Irish-Russian cultural links, Consumer information People and life in Ireland, Classified Advertising. There was no name for this newspaper for first three issues, than reader decided to call it “Nasha Gazeta” what means “Our Newspaper”. The first Chief- editor of “Nasha Gazeta” was Anna Lebedeva. She previously worked as a chief-editor of the newsroom at a private TV company, political and social correspondent in leading regional newspapers and radio companies, co-owned a small media production group in Russia . Currently she works as a freelance journalist and community developer in Dublin . The publisher of the newspaper Mr. Sergey Tarutin one of Russian businessmen in Ireland is same time member of Board of Directors for Irish Russian enterprise Centre.

   Now office of “Nasha Gazeta” situated in 55 O'Connell Street lower, Dublin 1 Nasha Gazeta today is twice a month publication measures 340 x 260 mm (tabloid size). The number of pages produced per issue is twelve. There are 4 columns to a page measuring 64 mm in width and 376 mm in length, accommodating approximately seven words to the line. With distribution in more than 80 outlets nationalwide through Eason News Wholesale, in most of Eason's bookshops, chain of Russian shops in Dublin and other major cities and free in Immigration support organization, Libraries, State offices and airlines desks. Also more than 200 subscribers getting Gazeta in their mail boxes.
   Since 2004 Nasha Gazeta became weekly newspaper. Number of supplementary to newspaper will come soon. Such us Telecommunication, Travel and leisure, education, health and satellite TV program. Number of immigrant's handbooks will publish soon as well.

    In September 2003 “Nasha Gazeta” additionally running information and resource centre for Russian speaking community. In Information centre immigrants can get information in their mother tongue, find Russian books and films to keep their cultural traditions. English conversational lessons, exchange with Irish who want to study Russian and special meeting with legal professionals and state officers will come soon. Most important challenge for newspaper is finding proper financing and information to provide it to readers. In present it's non profitable publication covered their expense from advertising and private donation. No any state foundation involved.
   Community requirements are to decide and choice the model of community organization. Now number of registered charity are claim to be leading community organization such as Sorussi (Society of Russian speakers in Ireland), Russian patriarch Orthodox Church, some workers and women's group in various regions. All volunteers are requirement knowledge about community development and foundation in Ireland . Community required to be organized with assistant of local state and with involvement of Diplomatic representatives of the community member's motherland.
